Most images are not suited to be used as wallpapers on the iPhone. The screen dimensions are such that you have to manually adjust images to make them fit on the screen. The Cydia store has released a tweak called the WS wallpaper that automatically adjusts an image to match the resolution of your iOS device. However, that’s all that it does in fact the app is specifically designed to let you use widescreen wallpapers of your iPhone or iPad. You must be wondering how in the world it does that, and the answer is that it makes the wallpaper scrollable. As you go back and forth the homescreens, you will be able to scroll through the wallpaper as well. It gives quite an interesting effect and adds some variety to what you have to see on the springboard. Selecting busy widescreen wallpaper would be best as that will give you plenty to see when scrolling through.
The WS Wallpaper is a free app plus you get a sample wallpaper with it as well to give users an idea about the usability of the app. Using the app is easy, all the user needs to do is open an image with WS wallpaper and use it as a widescreen background on your iOS device. The Springboard gets a new icon for this app and users can change the wallpapers from going to the WS Wallpaper app. Users will be shown all the pictures stored in their iOS devices. All they need to do is select a picture. If it fits the widescreen frame, just tap done and it will be displayed as scrollable wallpaper. Users are free to adjust the image to show the part they want to use.
The amount of wallpaper you can scroll depends on the page you have on your spring board. WS Wallpaper can be downloaded for free from the BigBoss repository of the Cydia store. Even if you do not want to have scrollable wallpaper, you can use it as a resizing tool for creating wallpapers according to your iDevice. Feel free to comment!
